IRONDALE — It was the Torrey Hendrix and Jackie Matthews Show again for Pinson Valley on Friday, as the running back and quarterback combined for five touchdowns to shut out Woodlawn 35-0 at Lawson Field.

Hendrix scored on runs of 31, 23, and five yards, and Matthews hit paydirt with 21-yard and 5-yard touchdown runs.

Meanwhile, the Indians defense held the Colonels to just 18 yards of total offense and two first downs, and also picked off two Woodlawn passes — one by C.J. Rudolph and the other by Andrew McKinney, which set up Hendrix’s first touchdown. Multiple Tribe sacks also kept the Colonels’ yardage down.

Hendrix finished with yet another 100-yard effort, gaining 129 yards on 18 carries.

Matthews was 10-of-21 in passing for 123 yards, with one interception, and gained 43 yards rushing.

The victory gives Pinson Valley a 3-0 to start the season and a win in their first Region 6 game, as well as needed momentum going into two very tough contests back-to-back: Gardendale at home next week, and top-ranked Clay-Chalkville the week after that.
