Good Hope cracked AL.com’s first prep volleyball rankings of the regular season on Thursday, debuting at No. 8 in Class 4A.
The Raiders then backed it up by surviving a three-set tiebreaker with 5A Randolph and beating 6A Cullman in straight sets to stay undefeated through five matches.
The win over No. 5 Randolph was Good Hope’s second of the season versus a ranked opponent. The Raiders downed 1A No. 4 Decatur Heritage in four sets earlier this week.
Cullman was swept by Randolph to fall to 2-2.
Addison, which was 8-1 entering a Thursday trimatch, held firm to its No. 2 ranking in 2A. Providence Christian, runner-up to the Bulldogs in last year’s state championship, is still No. 1.
West Point topped Cold Springs in all three sets of a county showdown on Thursday to improve to 4-2.
Vinemont defeated Susan Moore in an area matchup.
