Corner not only broke a school record by scoring 63 points in a rout at Vincent last Friday night, but they also set a state record as well.

Corner broke an all-time Alabama High School Athletic Association for fewest yards of total offense allowed in a single game.

The Corner defense forced the Vincent rushing game to lose 47 net yards, and also held the passing game to zero, for a net total offense of minus-47 yards.

That negative number, according to AHSAA spokesman Ron Ingram, is the lowest total offensive yards allowed that has ever been reported to the association.

The rushing total was third overall behind a minus-67 effort by Greensboro in 1977 over Uniontown, and Cedar Bluff holding Donoho to minus-48 rushing yards in 2012, Ingram said.

“The defense played with great emotion and followed their keys to hold Vincent to short gains,” Corner coach Zac Willis said. “We had some key sacks that led to the negative yardage. I’m proud of our guys and what they have achieved.”

Correction: Corner’s score was originally given in a Friday-night report as 62 points. The AHSAA officially reports it as 63.
