Sylas Elliott, right, receives the 2014 Cullman County Golf Championship trophy from Ches Harris on Sunday.

This year’s Cullman County Championship will take place Saturday and Sunday at two different locations for the first time since the popular event began back in 1997 after separating itself from the Buck Shear Memorial.

The opening round is scheduled to begin around 8 a.m. at Cullman Golf Course, while the final day will shift to TP Country Club to produce a 36-hole winner.

The tourney will be flighted after Day 1.

“We’ve been trying to do this for a while now,” Cullman head pro Ches Harris said. “We’re excited about the new format with TP. It’s going to be a really good thing to help grow golf around here. John (Hunt) and I can’t be more excited about it.”

There are around 30 players signed up for the tournament. The cost per golfer is $135, which includes two practice rounds, a tee gift and lunch.
