Morgan Smith Goodwin, a Cullman native best known as the “Wendy’s Girl” in the fast food chain’s national advertising campaign, has signed on as a series regular in NBC’s revival of ABC’s 1990’s sitcom Coach.
Goodwin will play the on-screen daughter-in-law to original Coach star Craig T. Nelson. Her character will be married to the coach’s adult son, played by Andrew Ridings.
The revival will focus on Coach Fox (Nelson), who is called out of retirement to help his son Tim (Ridings) establish a football program at an Ivy League school in Pennsylvania.
The 13-episode series is set in the present day, and picks up 18 years after the ABC sitcom went off the air following a nine-season run.
Goodwin has been acting since her tween years, and cut her teeth in local stage productions before landing the Wendy’s role that has put her on televisions across the country. In 2014, she returned home to mentor aspiring actors and actresses at the Missoula Children’s Theater’s production of Rapunzel in Cullman.
