Gardendale Beautification Commission hands out annual awards

The Gardendale Beautification Commission recently hosted its annual awards banquet recognizing residents and businesses in the Gardendale area for their hard work and beautiful gardens, lawns and landscapes.

The banquet was held at the Gardendale Civic Center on June 18.

In addition to the many awards that were presented to guests, a special award, the Martha Wilson Award was presented by Wynema Vogel to Faye Smith on behalf of her deceased husband, Jerry Smith, who both worked tirelessly in the Beautification Commission.

The 2015 Gardendale Beautification Award winners were:

The Gardendale Beautification Commission raises funds to benefit the commission by selling plants at the annual Magnolia Festival and by selling the commemorative bricks at the Gardendale Memorial Park located between Main Street and Highway 31.
