Two people were killed after a single-car crash Thursday night near Morris.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies responded at about 6:30 p.m. to the scene in the 6200 block of New Castle Road, close to intersections with Mountain View Road and Cole Road. When they arrived, deputies found a white Lexus that had left the road and overturned.

One passenger had been thrown from the vehicle; that person suffered minor injuries. Two people were trapped inside the car; they were pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary indications show that the car left the road, and the driver apparently over-corrected and lost control. That action caused the car to turn over. The incident remains under further investigation.

Identities of the deceased have not been released, as their next of kin have not been notified.
