With two away, Calvert hit Dylan Oliver with a pitch, then walked Early. Both moved up a base on another passed ball, then Cupps brought both runners home on a double.
The Cougars tried to mount a rally in the bottom of the inning, with Andrew Blount scoring on a fielder’s choice, but the next two Clay batters grounded out to end the game and the series.
Cupps was 2-for-5 with three RBIs. and McDuffee drove in a run on a sacrifice fly.
