- Coach Brent Patterson and his Cullman baseball team are hoping they can finally start the playoffs on Saturday at Bill Shelton Field.
There will be playoff baseball in Cullman County.
Who knows when, though.
After yet another dreary day of overcast skies and crying clouds on Thursday, rain has once again forced Cullman and Hanceville to make alterations to their postseason schedules.
As it stands now, the Class 6A No. 1 Bearcats (35-9) will host a first-round playoff series versus Athens Saturday at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. with an if-necessary third game slated for Monday at 5 p.m.
Saturday’s contests will, weather permitting, serve as Senior Night for the Black and Gold.
The Bulldogs (21-6), who are ranked sixth in 3A, are set to duke it out with Winston County Saturday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The tiebreaker would be Monday at 4 p.m.
Addison’s 2A series at Section was one of the few in the state to actually be played Friday. The Dawgs were eliminated after 9-1 and 5-1 defeats. They finished the season 8-10.
