- Donnie Jaydon Terry, 18, of Pinson is charged with first-degree theft of property, unlawful breaking and entering a vehicle and third-degree criminal mischief in relation to an incident in the Innsbrooke subdivision on Saturday night.
A suspected car thief not only left the stolen car behind after attempting to break into another vehicle — he also left an address where lawmen could find him.
Donnie Jaydon Terry, 18, of Pinson was arrested Saturday night, after a resident of the city’s Innsbrooke subdivision reported that he had confronted someone trying to break into his pickup truck.
A Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office spokesman said that the suspect ran away after the confrontation, leaving behind a car whose owner had reported that it was stolen.
Inside the car, deputies found a new home address programmed into the GPS system. Lawmen then went to an address in the 6700 block of Crossbrook Lane, where they found Terry hiding under a backyard porch.
Terry reportedly told deputies that he wanted to surrender for “making a bad choice and stealing a car.”
Terry is charged with first-degree theft of property, unlawful breaking and entering a vehicle and third-degree criminal mischief. He is held in the Jefferson County Jail in lieu of $20,300 bond.
