ASWA RANKINGS: Hanceville only local team on move; Cullman squads hold steady

Published 10:58 pm Wednesday, March 25, 2015

There was little to no local movement in the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s latest baseball and softball rankings released late Wednesday night.

Class 3A Hanceville, two weeks removed from the first No. 1 ranking in program history, dropped a spot from last Wednesday’s installment to fifth. The Bulldogs are 11-4.

Cullman maintained the top position in 6A baseball and also held firm to ninth on the softball side. The Bearcats are 23-3 with 12 straight wins. The Black and Gold girls went 4-2 at the Gulf Coast Classic II to improve to 13-6.

West Point (6-5) replaced Fairview (11-4) in the nominated section of the 5A softball rankings. The Lady Warriors have wins over the Aggies and Cold Springs (4-3-2), which was nominated in 2A.
