A former teacher at Pinson Valley High School has been arrested on charges that she had inappropriate sexual conduct with a male student.
Jennifer Marie Perry, 27, of Odenville has been charged with being a school employee while having sexual conduct with a student under 19 years old. She surrendered at the Jefferson County Jail on Monday and posted $30,000 bond.
PVHS administrators notified the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in February that Perry had come forward, claiming that a rumor was circulating at the school which claimed she had performed a sex act with the student. Perry resigned her teaching position on February 24, a Sheriff’s Office spokesman said.
Investigators looked into the rumor, and obtained an arrest warrant for Perry last Friday.
Perry taught English at Pinson Valley.
A spokeswoman for the Jefferson County Schools declined to comment, citing the system’s longstanding policy of refraining from comment when law enforcement becomes involved with a case.
