Because of possible icy roads on Tuesday morning, Jefferson County Schools will delay classes and bus service by two hours, and Blount County Schools will be shut down entirely.

JefCoEd Spokeswoman Nez Calhoun said that school personnel will report at 9 a.m., and central office personnel at 8:30.

No breakfast will be served at JefCoEd schools.

Heavy rain has left many roads wet Monday afternoon, and with temperatures dipping below the freezing mark overnight, some roads and bridges may become slick and hazardous. Icing was already evident along some trees and metal structures in the higher elevations of Blount County on Monday morning.
