JACKSONVILLE, Ala. — Locust Fork advanced to the finals of the AHSAA Northeast Regional girls basketball tournament Saturday, as they easily handled Hokes Bluff 60-43 at Jacksonville State.

The Hornets went on a 17-8 run in the first quarter, and then held the Lady Eagles to just three points in the third period, going 1-of-10 from the field.

Ashlyn Adkins was on a hot streak for Locust Fork in the first half, scoring 16 of her game-total 21 points. She was 4-of-7 on 3-point shots before intermission.

Jamie Gail Hudson scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds, and Kimberly Horton added 15 points for the Hornets.

Sydney Ball led the Eagles (22-10) with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Hannah Evans added 12 points.

The Hornets (19-11) face a stern test in the regional final, as they take on second-ranked Jacksonville in front of a large home crowd for the Golden Eagles. The game is scheduled for Wednesday at 1 p.m., but may be delayed because of the threat of winter weather.
