Girls basketball sub-regional: Locust Fork 73, Priceville 60

PRICEVILLE — Finding themselves behind late in the game, Locust Fork turned up the jets and went on a 24-0 run in the fourth quarter, as they defeated Priceville 73-60 in an AHSAA Class 4A girls basketball sub-regional playoff game Monday.

All five Hornet starters scored in double digits, led by forward Jamie Gail Hudson’s 17 points and 12 rebounds.

Ashlyn Adknis scored 16 points, Kimberly Horton had 15, Madison Cater 11 and Carissa Horton 10 for Locust Fork. Hudson also had six steals,  Cater dished six assists, and Adkins blocked three Bulldog shots.

Mackenzie Parker led the Dogs with 15 points, and Kathleen Wheeler added 12.

The Hornets (19-11) move on to the regional tournament at Wallace State-Hanceville, where they will meet Hokes Bluff on Saturday at 9 a.m.
