The arrest of a Hayden man and an accomplice in Wisconsin has led to evidence about the death of a man from Holly Pond, and a subsequent arrest of another Hayden man for murder.

Matthew Thrasher, 33, of Hayden and Stephanie Diane Underwood, 30, of Cullman were arrested on Jan. 13 in Kenosha, a city about halfway between Chicago and Milwaukee, after the pair were found driving a stolen 2001 Chrysler Sebring registered to David Hayes, who had been missing since Christmas.

Kenosha police found stains in the car, which tested positive as human blood. They then questioned Thrasher and Underwood about the car and the owner; the pair said that Hayes had been killed or severely injured at a house at 301 Warrior Pass in Hayden, a house belonging to Christopher Jones, also known as “Biggun.” Thrasher and Underwood further said that Jones hit the victim with a stick and with a pistol, then placed the body in the Sebring.

(Though the site has a Hayden mailing address, an online map search shows that 301 Warrior Pass is just outside of Garden City, which is on the Cullman-Blount county line.)

Agents from the Blount County Sheriff’s office, along with District Attorney Pamela Casey, went to Kenosha over last weekend to meet with investigators and prosecutors.

Investigators also executed a search warrant on Jones’ house, in which they found blood stains and a stick matching the description given by Thrasher and Underwood.

On Tuesday, Hayes’ body was found off Buck Ridge Road on Pine Mountain, just east of Remlap.

Jones has been arrested on charges of murder, and is held in the Blount County Correctional Facility on $500,000 bond.

Thrasher and Underwood are held in Kenosha on charges of first-degree theft of property, and are awaiting extradition back to Blount County. Casey said in a statement that she expects additional criminal charges will follow.
