Birmingham Police have arrested Jason Hopkins, 28, of Fultondale on charges of capital murder in connection with the death of a man Friday night in the Highland Park neighborhood of Birmingham's Southside.

A Fultondale man is one of two who have been charged with capital murder in the death of a man on Birmingham’s Highland Park neighborhood last Friday.

Jason Hopkins, 28, of Fultondale was arrested in Shelby County in connection with the death of Mark Kieskowski, 47, of Birmingham.

Police also arrested Dane Leach, 46, with capital murder in the same case. Leach was listed by Birmingham Police as a transient.

Investigators say that the victim was found on the floor of his living room on 28th Street South on Friday evening, apparently strangled to death. Kieskowski’s car was also missing from the scene; it was later found.

Investigators believe the death to be drug-related.

Hopkins and Leach are held in the Jefferson County Jail without bond.
