Gentry will be sworn in by Cullman County Circuit Judge Martha Williams during the event at Loft 212 in downtown Cullman from 5 to 7 p.m.

Gentry beat incumbent Mike Rainey for the Republican nomination in the July primary runoff. The former head of the Cullman Narcotics Enforcement Team (CNET), Gentry will leave his post at the Cullman County District Attorney’s Office as a member of the North Alabama DEA Drug Task Force.

Gentry will inherit a $6.3 million budget for the sheriff’s office and $3 million budget for the Cullman County Detention Center.
