A storm system moving in from the west is colliding with warm moist air headed northward from the Gulf of Mexico, which mans we could be in for some severe weather today. Already this morning a severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Greene and Hale counties for a storm centered around Eutaw that can produce large hail. Heavy rains and straight-line winds are the main danger today, though an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out, and most of the severe storms are expected to be to the south of Birmingham. Storms will reach out area after the noon hour, with highs today topping out in the lower 60s, and temperatures remaining steady through the night. Rain moves out Wednesday morning and temperatures will fall throughout the day, into the upper 40s by afternoon and the middle 30s at night. Christmas Day will be sunny with highs in the lower 50s.
