- Anthony Amaro, 30, of Hayden was arrested on charges of first-degree assault for an incident in which investigators allege he hit his wife with a hatchet.
Lawmen have arrested a Hayden man for allegedly attacking his wife with a hatchet over the weekend.
Anthony Amaro, 30, is charged with first-degree assault after an incident Friday afternoon in a home on Levi Green Road. That’s about a mile and a half southeast of Garden City, and a few miles north of Hayden.
The Blount County 911 call center got a call, but no one was on the line. However, operators could hear a fight going on through the open line.
Deputies went to check the scene and found the front door open, blood scattered about the house and a hatchet on the floor.
The victim had been taken to a Cullman hospital, where she told investigators that her husband hit her in the head with the hatchet.
Amaro is lodged in the Blount County Correctional Facility in Oneonta in lieu of $250,000 bond. Additional charges may be forthcoming.
