Officials say a body discovered in eastern Pennsylvania is believed to be that of a former Marine reservist suspected of killing his ex-wife and five former in-laws in a shooting spree outside Philadelphia on Monday.
CBS Philly reports that the body of Bradley William Stone, 35, was found in a patch of woods near Pennsburg early Tuesday afternoon, ending a two-day manhunt that left residents of several suburbs north of Philadelphia on edge.
Monday’s shootings began before dawn at the home of Stone’s former sister-in-law in Souderton and ended about 90 minutes later at the apartment of his ex-wife Nicole Stone, 33, who was found dead after a neighbor reported seeing Bradley Stone fleeing with their two young daughters.
Police then discovered five people, all members of Nicole Stone’s family, dead in two other houses.
SWAT teams and local, state and federal law enforcement agencies including the FBI, ATF and U.S. Marshals all joined in the search. Schools closed and hospitals and other public places tightened security during the manhunt.
