Upholding a long-held tradition, the Birmingham Community Concert Band will host a free Christmas concert in Gardendale this month.

The hour-long program is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 7, 3 p.m. at the Gardendale Civic Center Exhibition Hall.

The Gardendale Arts Council and city of Gardendale are sponsoring the concert.

“The presentation has been well-received by residents in the Gardendale area in the past, and all are welcome to attend,” said Larry York, president of the Gardendale Arts Council.

There is no charge to attend.

“It is a gift from the city of Gardendale and the Gardendale Arts Council to help you get into the Christmas spirit,” York said.

The Birmingham Community Concert Band is made up of about 40 musicians who have other full-time positions, but who desire to share their love of music with the community.

“The band will play your favorite Christmas songs and it will be a fun time for all,” York said.
