COLD SPRINGS — So much for a losing streak.

Just three days after dropping their first game of the season, Cold Springs’ varsity boys responded in a huge way on Monday with a dominant 77-35 area victory against Addison.

Triston Chambers was a big reason why.

The sublime junior scorched the nets for 32 points in a little more than 12 minutes — he had 29 in the first half alone — to pace the 7-1 Eagles.

He did it very efficiently, too, sinking 11 of 14 shots on the night, including a dynamite 8-of-11 clip from 3-point range.

“My teammates got me the ball early on,” Chambers said of his stellar performance. “They trust me to shoot those shots, and they believe in me to make them, too. But I wouldn’t get those looks without my teammates. We played a solid game.”

Cold Springs jumped out to a 25-12 first-quarter advantage before building its cushion to 48-18 at the half. The following 16 minutes were merely a formality.

In fact, one of the rare instances Chambers saw the floor in the second half was literally during “garbage time” — a trash can spilled out onto the side of the court — when he hopped from the bench with towel in hand to help clean up the mess.

It wasn’t just Chambers collecting buckets, though, as Cayde Elliott and Austin Moore netted 15 and 10 points, respectively, in the win. Adam Carney was good for six points; Josh Freeman and Zac Ellison, five apiece; and Tyler Rice, two.

“After our loss Friday night, we wanted to come out to win,” Chambers said. “We’re ready for a big-time game versus Holly Pond this Friday. Should be a good one.”

Cold Springs squeaked by the Broncos 74-73 in their first meeting last Monday.
