Town should use own money before going to commission

We pay taxes to the government to provide services that we as individuals can’t provide for ourselves.

I do attend most of Baileyton’s Council meetings. I’ve brought this up many times. They will not even consider. They send letters each month to residents, yet, nothing is ever mentioned except the positive stuff that covers the mayor and council.

The mayor will argue with Mr. Walker, chair of the county commission, over $500 while holding on to $1,228,000-plus. This is not right. All taxes should be spent on those who are paying. And every taxpayer should be informed as to how the taxes are handled. The mayor said if they knew how much we have, we would never be able to get any more.

I taught government and economics for 27 years at Fairview High School – I know what taxes are for.
