It’s not a summer Monday, but it might feel like one…

Weather: This is October? A sunny and very warm day is in store once the morning fog burns off, with highs in the middle 80s. Lows tonight will be in the upper 50s as clouds begin to enter the area. Those clouds become more numerous on Tuesday, with a high near 80 and low near 60, and possible thunderstorms in the overnight hours.

Hello, Dalai. Thousands gathered at Regions Field on Sunday to hear the Dalai Lama, the spiritual head of a Tibetan community that was exiled from Communist China in the 1950s. The 79-year-old leader implored the crowd, “It is your responsibility to make a peaceful world.” The Dalai Lama also spoke at a forum at the Alabama Theatre.

Quarantine order faces criticism. New York Gov. Andre Cuomo and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie are catching flack, particularly from the Obama Administration, for their decision to require a 21-day quarantine for health health workers returning from West Africa who had contact with Ebola patients. Cuomo made one change in the policy last night, allowing returning workers who show no Ebola symptoms to remain at home. Already one nurse returning from Sierra Leone has been quarantined in a tent outside a hospital in Newark, N.J.

Sports: Rebels fall, Tide and Tigers move up. The college football polls were re-shuffled a bit this weekend, thanks to LSU’s defeat of Ole Miss. Mississippi State remains and top, followed by Florida State. Alabama steps up to third, with Auburn very close behind in fourth. Ole Miss fell to seventh, Georgia is ninth and LSU 16th… Baseball: Another pitching gem for Madison Bumgarner, as he he gave up just four hits in San Francisco’s 5-0 shutout of Kansas City in Game 5 of the World Series. The Giants take a 3-2 lead in the series, and can win it all Tuesday night when the Fall Classic returns the Royals’ home.
