SUSAN MOORE — A pass interference penalty with no time remaining took away from Hanceville what it thought was a win, instead leading to a heartbreaking 15-14 loss to Susan Moore.
The penalty came on what Hanceville (1-8, 1-5 in Class 3A, Region 5) believed to be the final play of the game — an unsuccessful Hail Mary attempt. Susan Moore (3-6, 2-4) took full advantage of the miscue, moving 15 yards closer and this time connecting on a deep pass to seal the comeback.

Despite leading 14-0 at the half, Hanceville floundered in the final 24 minutes, mustering zero points and allowing Susan Moore to claw back.
Hanceville travels to Good Hope next week for a Cullman County showdown.
‰ Addison: 27, Southeastern: 7: The Bulldogs (6-3, 4-2) kept their postseaon aspirations alive and well after running all over the Mustangs (2-7, 0-6).
Addison’s victory, coupled with Cold Springs’ over Tarrant, helped orchestrate a three-way tie for the second seed in 2A, Region 6 along with Tarrant and Cold Springs.
Kyle Denson scored three touchdowns on the ground and rushed for 102 yards on 17 carries to aid the triumph versus the Mustangs, an opponent Addison is all too familiar with defeating by hefty margins.
In the team’s previous two meetings, the Bulldogs outscored Southeastern 95-0.

While the margin of victory was not quite as lopsided, the win was a much-needed rebound from Addison’s 26-13 loss to Tarrant last week.
Denson had help on the ground from Kolby Kirk, who gained 78 rushing yards on 16 carries and also scored a touchdown.
Addison hosts rival Winston County next for county bragging rights.
‰ Winfield: 44, Holly Pond: 19: Three turnovers and a stout Pirate (6-3, 5-1 in 3A, Region 5) passing game spelled a 19th straight loss for the Broncos (0-9, 0-5) at home on Friday night.
Holly Pond managed to strike first on a 60-yard touchdown pass from Matt Doyle to Ryan Wilcutt, but a tear of five consecutive first-half scores by Winfield quickly put the game out of reach.
The Broncos held the Pirates to only 87 yards rushing, but Winfield’s passing attack proved to be too potent at a 242-yard clip.
Holly Pond gained 268 yards of total offense.
The Broncos will stay put to host Cold Springs in a county clash next week.
