Good Thursday morning to you…
Weather: If you liked yesterday… you’ll love today, because the forecast is almost exactly the same – maybe a degree or two warmer, with highs in the middle 80s and nighttime lows in the lower 60s. Ditto for Friday.
More theft charges for former housekeeper. Remember Crystal Lynn Kloet, the woman charged with taking nearly $30,000 in jewelry from an elderly Mt. Olive woman, for whom she served as a housekeeper? Jefferson County Sheriff’s investigators later discovered that not all the items she sold to a local jeweler belonged to the original victim. After going through a list of Kloet’s clients, investigators determined that some of the jewelry belonged to a man in Blount County. Kloet is now wanted on additional charges of receiving stolen property; she remained at large as of Wednesday afternoon.
Robbery suspect caught. Morgan Breana Bell, who was wanted by Gardendale Police on robbery and attempted murder charges, was caught and arrested Tuesday afternoon, along with a juvenile who is believed to be involved with the incident. Bell is charged with abducting a man under pretenses of taking him to a work site in Brookside, but instead taking him to a rural Gardendale road and robbing him. Shots were fired at the victim during the incident. The juvenile will be charged as an adult; for now, his identity has not been revealed.
Sports: No charges for Stewart. A grand jury in Ontario County, N.Y. declined to indict NASCAR star Tony Stewart in the Aug. 9 incident where Stewart’s car hit and killed driver Kevin Ward Jr. In a race at a short track in Canandaigua. Ward was standing on the track to confront Stewart after a wreck, and the back of Stewart’s car clipped Ward. A toxicology report noted that Ward had marijuana in his system in quantities that would impair his judgement.
