Running back Joshua Rice scored two rushing touchdowns, and caught a 43-yard pass from Decorian Bivens for another, as Carver shut out visiting Corner 34-0 in a Class 5A region game Friday night.

Bivens threw three touchdown passes in the game, with a 53-yarder to Kevin Perdue and a 15-yard scoring toss to Kevin McDaniel to go with Rice’s touchdown reception. All three of those passes were in the third quarter, when the Rams out 27 points on the scoreboard.

Rice scored on a 1-yard run with 48 seconds left in the first period, then on a 36-yard touchdown dash just 46 seconds into the second half. He finished with 111 yards on 14 carries.

The Yellow Jackets simply couldn’t muster any offense all night, as they were held to just 89 yards rushing and 48 passing for a total of 138 yards.

Carver (2-1, 1-1 region) gained 225 yards through the air, though much of that was run-after-catch yardage off short throws by Bivens. He was 12-for-17 for the night.

The Jackets got 33 yards each from Drennen Hutchins, Jesse Ross and Chase Goodwin. Quarterback Chase Best was 4-for-12 for 50 yards, with Jared Manning catching two balls for 30 yards.

Jake Holcombe, Reed Murphy and John Bassett each had four tackles.

Corner (1-2, 0-2 region) hosts neighboring Dora next week.
