What’s that virus? Doctors don’t know for sure, but there’s some kind of respiratory virus spreading among children in 10 different states. The virus starts out as coughing and sniffling, but can lead to wheezing. Several children in Colorado have been admitted to intensive-care units. No cases in Alabama yet, but some have been reported in Georgia, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

Sports: Hawks owner stepping down. Bruce Levenson, the owner of Atlanta’s NBA franchise, has told the league office that he will put the team up for sale after he confessed to sending a racist email. Levenson himself reported the email to Commissioner Adam Silver in July, and told Silver he would sell the team. The mail was sent to Hawks executives two years ago; in it, Levenson complained that the team wasn’t doing well financially because most of the fan base was black, and that was scaring away whites from the suburbs. He also complained that there simply weren’t enough affluent blacks who could afford to purchase season tickets. The incident comes on the heels of former Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling’s racist remarks to his girlfriend, which led to his being banned form the league and the forced sale of the team.
