It’s Monday, for better or worse…
Weather: Cooling off. We may see a passing shower this morning, but skies will clear this afternoon and we will see another relatively cool spell for most of this week. Today’s high will be in the upper 80s, with nighttime lows in the middle 60s. Highs Tuesday will be in the lower 80s.
No identity yet. We are still waiting on word from the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office on the identity and cause of death of a body found in woods off Trafford Road in Warrior on Thursday night. The body of a white male was found when someone went to check on the source of a foul smell coming from the woods. A Warrior Police detective said the body had been there for some time.
Sports: Sucher headed for the big time. Zach Sucher, the for UAB golfer who now makes his home in Gardendale, won his first tournament on the Web.com developmental pro golf tour Sunday. Sucher shot a 19-under at the Midwest Classic in Overland Park, Kansas for his first win on the tour and a check for $108,000. More importantly, the win puts him in fourth place on the tour money list, with the top 25 at the end of the year getting PGA Tour cards… NASCAR: Jeff Gordon made history at on Sunday, as he won his record fifth Brickyard 400 race. The win ties him with Formula One driver Michael Schumacher for the most career wins in major races at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It’s also his 90th career victory in NASCAR, third on the all-time list behind Richard Petty and David Pearson.
