Missing Fultondale man found dead. The body of Antonio “Tony” Salas, who disappeared from his home on Aug. 1, was found Thursday evening. Family members told Fultondale police that they found the body in a wooded area not far from his home. Salas, 68, suffered from severe diabetes and used a prosthetic leg and a cane. The search had gone nationwide over the last few days, and several additional local law enforcement agencies had assisted in the search.
A rap sheet that just got longer. Sheriff’s deputies and Adamsville police caught a man whom they charge with trying to steal a car, but it took some doing to catch him. The man was seen driving the car by a deputy who gave chase, but when cornered, the suspect tried to get away and drove toward the deputy, who then shot at the suspect. The stolen car later stopped when confronted by police. A sheriff’s spokesman says the suspect, who hasn’t been identified publicly, has a long criminal record and is a suspect in other car thefts in the area.
