The two-week-long search for a missing man came to a tragic end Thursday night.

The body of Antonio “Tony” Salas, 68, was found in woods not far from his home by family members, according to Fultondale police.

Salas, who suffered from severe diabetes and used a prosthetic leg, had last been seen on Aug. 1. The effort to find him went nationwide, and search crews from several other local law enforcement agencies had been brought in over the past few days.

Foul play is not suspected at this time.
