Search continues for man missing from Fultondale for more than a week

Law enforcement, friends and family are still looking for a Fultondale man who has been missing for more than a week.
The family of Antonio “Tony” Salas, 68, has not heard from him since the evening of Aug. 1.
Fultondale Police Chief Phillip Mangina said Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies and law enforcement officials from other departments have been searching near Salas’ home on Ridgebrook Road, using dogs, manpower and helicopters.
In addition, officers are investigating leads and tips from the public.
Mangina said Monday there was no updated information; he said officers are waiting on a sighting or other leads.
Salas is diabetic and has a prosthetic left leg. He walks using a red cane.
The search has primarily focused on the wooded area surrounding Salas’ house.
In addition, the police department has distributed pictures of Salas nationwide and entered him into missing persons’ databases.
