The robbery case of a former Pinson Valley High football star is now headed for a grand jury.
Earnest Robinson, who is charged with first-degree robbery for an incident in Birmingham, had his case waived to the grand jury Tuesday morning in Jefferson County District Court. The action took place during a brief hearing before Judge Shelly Watkins.
Robinson is accused of setting up a man for a robbery on May 27, in an incident on Crestwood Blvd. Two other men are also charged in the case.
Robinson was a highly-touted wide receiver for the Indians, rated as a four-star recruit from the 2013 class by most major listing services. He signed with Auburn, but never made it to the Plains because of academic ineligibility. He enrolled at East Mississippi Community College, and played as a freshman on a Lions team that won the national junior-college championship last season.
