Use banana peel tonic on rose bushes

Garden Tip: If you have rose bushes or gardenia bushes, they need a tonic. Use your old banana peelings around the bushes. This will help keep them with green leaves and make more blooms.

• Gardendale Beautification Commission will host a garden tour on June 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and June 7 from 1-4 p.m. Tickets will be sold at Wilson’s Florist for $5 each. They will also be sold at the door of the homes on the tour. There are seven homes on this tour. My club “Blue Star Garden Club, Gardendale Garden Club and Twin Oaks Garden” will also help host at each home on this tour. these tours will help you as you plant your new flower beds or any other garden project.
• The Camp Meeting singers will be singing at Covenant House on June 7 at 2 p.m.
• Congratulations goes to Amanda Clements. She finished high school at Mortimer Jordan and was honored with a party given by her grandmother, Rispa Green and family.
• Pray for Matthew Barnes as he is to have more surgery. He is a very wonderful little boy and will be having the second surgery. May God bless him and his family at this time.
• Congratulations go to Elizabeth Swafford on their birth of her beautiful daughter, Brooklee. She weighed 7 pounds 10 ounces and was 19 inches long. Robert, her older brother, welcomed her home with open arms. Brooklee is the granddaughter of Emma Swindle of Jasper and my great-granddaughter. Best always and forever.
• Our country still needs prayer and also the American troops that are in harm’s way.
