A 16-year-old Gardendale girl reported missing over the weekend was scheduled to return home Tuesday.

Police Chief Mike Walker said Brittany Michelle Barker had made contact with her mother and was to return home.

Barker’s mother called the police station shortly before 2:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon to report her daughter missing. She was reportedly last seen on Saturday at 6 p.m. leaving her home on Chapel Ridge Drive

The department then issued an alert through “A Child is Missing,” a national program designed to locate missing juveniles.

The City of Fultondale had also investigated the disappearance of a juvenile female this week. However, a police official said Monday afternoon that the teen had been found safe.
