Jaunita Louise Miner Crowe

Jaunita Louise Miner Crowe, age 92, of Morris, departed this life peacefully in her sleep and went to be with Jesus on June 28, 2009. She was born on February 8, 1917 in Morris. Mrs. Crowe graduated from Mortimer Jordan High School in 1934. She attended Massey Business College in Birmingham in 1935. She was a substitute teacher at Mortimer Jordan High School; worked as a legal secretary; and retired in 1979 from the American Red Cross in Birmingham where she had worked for 22 years. She was a former member of the Morris Beautification Board, Kimberly Zoning Commission, T.O.U.C.H. Program (Cancer Support Group), and the Olympic Torch Committee. She also developed a program to have mourners attend burials in Jefferson County Potter’s Field, Morris. She was an active member of Liberty Baptist Church in Morris. Mrs. Crowe lived a full and rewarding life. In addition to traveling the world over, which she enjoyed so very much, she had been a volunteer in many benevolent causes, and she was always willing to help anyone who needed her. She was a cancer survivor and always maintained a positive attitude when adversities came her way. She received a prestigious Life Inspiration Award from the American Cancer Society. The past three years Mrs. Crowe resided at The Covenant Place Assisted Living Residence in Gardendale, and for the past eight month had been in the “Special Care” unit of the Assisted Living Residence. She was preceded in death by Mack Crowe, her loving husband of 48 years; her parents Alvin Felix and Mittie Burton Miner; and a sister Jewel Miner Ratliff. She is survived by her son Alvin Mack and wife Mary Smith Crowe of Tullahoma, Tenn.; two grandsons, Dave Alvin and wife Virginia Crowe of Livermore, Calif.; Michael Kevin Crowe of St. Augustine, FL; two great granddaughters, Catlin Marie Crowe and Callie Mae Crowe, of Livermore, Calif.; several nieces/nephews, cousins, and a host of friends and neighbors. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to Liberty-Minter Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 356, Morris, AL or the Alzheimer’s Foundation of Central Alabama, 300 Office Park Dr., Mountain Brook, AL, 35223. Visitation for Mrs. Crowe will be from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 with services following at 3 p.m. at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel in Gardendale, Reverend Gary Burton officiating. Interment will be at Liberty-Minter Cemetery, Morris. Mrs. Crowe was everybody’s “Granny” and loved by all… she will be sorely missed. Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel Directing.
