A woman from Kimberly was killed and her teenage daughter injured in a crash Sunday near Cleveland, in Blount County.

Polly Maria Franklin, 40, died when the Honda automobile in which she was a passenger left the roadway and hit a tree. The car was driven by Franklin’s 18-year-old daughter, Kayla Marie Franklin.

The crash occurred on Alabama 79 about three miles north of Cleveland at about 7:45 p.m. Polly Franklin was declared dead at the scene; Kayla Franklin was taken to a local hospital. Her condition is unavailable due to federal patient privacy regulations.

Alabama State Troopers are continuing their investigation.
