The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has named the victim in Tuesday’s fatal crash on Smith Mill Road.

Herman Mulvehill Jr., 53, died when his vehicle went off the road and crashed into a tree in the 2900 block of Smith Mill Road, just south of County Line. Mulvehill was from Trafford.

Investigators said Mulvehill’s vehicle was traveling at a high speed when it left the road and hit the tree at about 1 p.m. Mulvehill, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene.

Mulvehill was the only person in the vehicle.
