The name of a man killed in a shooting Tuesday night has been released.

Tony Lee Brooks, 46, was killed at a home in the 2900 block of Nail Road near Warrior. Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies found Brooks on the ground in the back yard of the home, after he was shot. Brooks was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Jack Self said that Brooks’ father-in-law was taken into custody, and had apparently shot Brooks. No charges have yet been filed, however, and the father-in-law has not been publicly identified.

The incident remains under investigation.
