Weather: Storms likely. We’ll have 70 percent chance of thunderstorms this afternoon, some of which could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Highs will be in the upper 80s. Storms will continue tonight with lows in the upper 60s. Tuesday’s forecast looks much the same.

Church vandalism case taking more twists and turns. We’re investigating some developments in the strange case of a Center Point man who calls himself “Eja Cree,” who’s under arrest for spray-painting a mysterious word on a church in Clay, and is suspected in more than a dozen similar incidents at other churches, including Solid Rock Church in Pinson. The suspect may also be involved in a nearly-identical vandalism incident at a Pinson business, which is run by a man who was his football coach at a private school. We’ll have more on these details as they emerge later today. Meanwhile, here’s a YouTube video posted by the suspect, which is proving to be as mysterious as the offense he’s charged with.

Television news icon passes. Joe Langston, one of the most recognizable faces and voices in Birmingham for many years, died Saturday after a battle with cancer. Langston was an news anchorman at WBRC television for decades, and served alongside other famous TV names such as Tom York, Pat Gray, Fannie Flagg, Mike Royer and Pam Huff and Warrior’s Country Boy Eddie. Langston switched to rival WVTM for a couple of years in the 1980s before returning to Channel 6; he retired from television later in that decade and taught communications at Jacksonville State University until 1998. Joe Langston was 82.

Sports: Quick draw. The U.S. men’s soccer team looked to have locked up a comeback victory over Portugal and a spot in the bracket rounds of the World Cup. But with the game deep into stoppage time, Portugal mounted one last charge – and Crstiano Ronaldo, the world’s top player, found Silvestre Varela on a perfect crossing pass that Varela put past American keeper Tim Howard, bring the game to a 2-2 draw at Manaus, Brazil. The Varela goal came on the very last kick of the match. Jermaine Jones tied the game with a goal in the 64th minute, then Clint Dempsey redirected a pass off his stomach for a goal in the 81st minute. The draw keeps Portugal’s hopes alive, but the U.S. is very much still in the hunt – they will advance to the knockout rounds with a win over Germany on Thursday, or a draw (in which case the Germans also advance). Even if the Americans lose, they may still advance if the winner of the Portugal-Ghana game that same day doesn’t win by a large margin.
