Obituary: Sam D. Brooks

Sam D. Brooks, 71, of Birmingham, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2014.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Anita; father, Robert (Sugar); sisters, Margaret Jean, Jo Ann, Jerry and Dorothy.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughters, Billie Rowe (David) and Rhonda Meadows (Mike); sons, Sam Douglas Jr., and Rick Bailey; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Nita Mordecai (Danny); brother, Billy Moore (Melody); a host of nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Lucky.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at noon from the chapel of Walker Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Walker Chapel Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10 a.m.-noon. Arrangements are by Walker Chapel Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens.
