You’d better get moving.

Friday is the last day that the city’s contractor will be picking up debris, said Mayor Pro Tem Brian Pharris in Tuesday night’s regular session of the Kimberly City Council.

Material should be left beside a public road, as contractors cannot go onto private property to remove debris. Those with questions should call City Hall at 647-5551.

The council tabled a measure to pay for hepatitis C vaccine for police officers and firefighters, after getting a quote of $59.71 per shot with a minimum of three shots required per person. Pharris suggested getting quotes from local doctors who might have a better price.

The council also approved paying a total of $1,008 for training sessions for the city’s building inspectors. The training is required for the city to maintain its ISO rating.

Mayor Bob Ellerbrock, who was absent from the council meeting, was also authorized to enter into an agreement with the Alabama Department of Transportation for mowing and landscaping along U.S. 31. The city would receive reimbursement for some of the expense involved in a task that Kimberly has already done for a number of years.

“It’s something we do anyway — we may as well get paid for it,” Pharris said.
