Weather: Couldn’t be better. Sunny and warm today and Thursday, with highs today in the upper 70s and lows tonight in the upper 40s. Highs on Thursday will be in the lower 80s. Rain moves into the area Thursday night.

Pinson woman’s body found. Police in Fairfield have identified the body found behind a burning house Saturday as that of Megan Monroe, 22, of Pinson. Her body was found behind a vacant house just off Interstate 20/59. Police believe Monroe was killed elsewhere and her body dumped there. The cause of death is still not officially determined, pending investigation by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.

More room coming for Fultondale Elementary. Jefferson County Schools Supt. Dr. Stephen Nowlin says that part of the proceeds from a county bond issue will go toward expanding the school, which has been overcrowded almost since it first opened. Nowlin said the expansion will include 10 to 15 additional classrooms. The money will also fund the expansion of the lunchroom and kitchen at Kermit Johnson Elementary in Pinson. Sports: Wildcats whip Walker. In softball, No. 2 Hayden put up eight runs in the first inning, as they routed the Vikings 13-3 in five innings to stay undefeated in area play. Next up for the Cats: a rematch with top-ranked Curry on Thursday afternoon, though the rankings may flip-flop by that time. Elsewhere, Hoover’s Emily Turner smashed a grand slam in the bottom of the first, as the Bucs shut out visiting Pinson Valley 6-0… Soccer: Chelsea’s teams may not be quite as good as their namesakes in the English Premier League, but they were good enough to shut out Gardendale in the last regular-season matches at home for the Rockets. The girls were defeated by a 3-0 score, despite 17 saves from senior keeper Kelsey Brumbeloe, while the boys fell 6-0.
