Gardendale City Council members further discussed a flooding problem Monday during a work session.
The Lexington Park subdivision in west Gardendale had a dam breach last week following heavy rains. Crews have cut off part of a large pipe that had been preventing the water from draining properly, and the city will continue to work on the problem, according to council president Stan Hogeland.
He added that if city workers end up doing the work, the city will bill charges back to the subdivision because the retention pond is not on city property.
In other business, the council:
• approved paving the parking lot at fire station No. 2
• approved the route of an upcoming 5K run
• voted to lease a copy machine for 36 months. The cost is $275.33 a month, including fax capabilities and toner.
