It was just three innings, but it was as perfect a pitching performance as it could be under the circumstances for Jordan Smith.
The Gardendale hurler had nine strikeouts and a perfect game, as the Rockets overwhelmed Carver 16-0 in the first game of a softball doubleheader.
Pitcher Kristin Graham was only slightly less than perfect in the second game. One Rams batter rached on an error, but that was all as she threw a no-hitter in another 16-0 whitewash in the nightcap.
Carrigan Fain was 2-for-2 plus a walk and drove in three runs in the opening game. Baleigh Moffett scored three runs and drove home two more.
In the nightcap, Caroline Burns, Alissa Cornelius, Brooke Lyles and Kayleigh Maze each had two RBIs.
