According to Lt. Sean Edwards of the Birmingham Police Department, Charles Jordan has been arrested and charged with the murder of Patricia McCain, 61, of Morris. Her body was found on Sunday, stuffed inside a plastic container sitting next to a dumpster outside an apartment building in the 1500 block of 15th Street South.

Jordan, 38, of Birmingham, is believed to have been in a relationship with McCain. Edwards said that heavy drug use by both the accused and the victim was involved.

Shortly after McCain’s body was found, investigators said that she had been deceased for since March, and that fingerprints were required for identification.

The investigators believe that Jordan and McCain were involved in some sort of altercation while they were in bed together, and that for some reason Jordan kept the body in the container inside his apartment. The container with the body was later put outside by the dumpster.

Jordan is currently lodged in the Jefferson County Jail in lieu of $60,000 bond.
