Gardendale had an easy time of it Thursday, scoring 11 runs in the first inning on the way to a 16-0 five-inning rout of Carver.

John Michael Mathews drove in four runs on a single and a double for the Rockets, Joesph Calvert was 3-for-4 with a triple and an RBI, and Mason Gooch had two RBIs on a 3-for-4 outing.

Spencer Patillo was the winning pitcher,working two innings with one hit and four strikeouts. Gooch thew for three innings, striking out seven.

Gardendale (11-8, 1-0 area) hosts Cullman for a doubleheader on Friday.
