JeffCo Baseball Tournament: Pinson Valley 5, Mortimer Jordan 3

Pinson Valley took the lead in the third inning and held on to defeat Mortimer Jordan 5-3 on Wednesday, finishing unbeaten in pool play and advancing to the semifinals of the Jeferson County Schools Baseball Tournament.
The Indians will host McAdory in the semifinal game on Friday afternoon.
The Tribe took the early lead with a run in the first inning, only to see the Blue Devils come back with two in the bottom of the second. But Pinson Valley took the lead back for good with a three-run rally in the third inning.
Jacob Brown was 2-for-4 with an RBI, and shortstop Destin Davidson scored twice and drove in a run. Catcher Gage Farley was 2-for-3 and scored a run for Pinson.
Wes Crawford led Jordan’s hitting, going 3-for-4 with a triple.
Zac Ray (1-1) go the win, pitching three innings with no earned runs, four hits, three strikeouts and two walks. Brett Jordan worked three scoreless innings, allowing four hits. Hunter Davidson got the save. Hunter Cornelius took the loss for the Devils, going 5-1/3 innings with two earned runs six hits and one strikeout.
The Indians’s record now stands at 7-3, having won seven straight after dropping the first three games of the season. Jordan (9-6) hosts Center Point in a consolation-bracket game Friday.
