A pair of crashes on Interstate 65 in Fultondale had northbound traffic backed up for miles Friday afternoon, but there were no fatalities involved.

The wrecks happened just south of the Walker Chapel Road exit at about noon. One involved a tractor trailer, which was heavily damaged on the passenger side, and a car. The other involved two cars.

The Birmingham State Trooper post had no information about injuries, though multiple ambulances were at the scene.

Traffic was slowed to a crawl as far back as Daniel Payne Drive, and was routed off I-65 through Fultondale streets for a time.

The scene was cleared at about 1:30 p.m.
